Welcome to "Where Are They Now?", a series that follows the journey of individuals who have attended one of our courses and how they have applied the skills and knowledge gained with us in their professional and personal lives. We believe that learning is a lifelong journey. We take pride in knowing that our program has positively impacted the lives of our attendees.
The aesthetic practitioners from Maison 627 joined us all the way from Winnipeg, Canada for 2 days of expert education. On Friday Jennifer, Erin, Freya and Ashley joined our own Lauren Gardstrom, NP for a full-day Sculptra training. The, on Saturday, they joined Lamija Hubjer, PA and Cristina Herman, NP for our hands-on Cadaver Lab. Spending a weekend learning with your colleagues sounds like the perfect time in Chicago!

What were your professional backgrounds before aesthetics? How does it influence the way you practice today?
We have a wide array of backgrounds - community health, emergency medicine, ICUs, and primary care. Jennifer and Erin worked together as NPs in primary care. Meanwhile Freya, Jennifer, and Erin all had overlapping times in the ICU!
Working as NPs in primary care really helped to hone our general patient assessment skills. Having a basic understanding of dermatology from a primary care perspective has also been particularly helpful in aesthetics.
What Inspired You to Pursue a Career in Aesthetics?
Jennifer was the driver to the group's aesthetics journey. She asked Erin if she wanted to tag along on a trip to Ontario to take an introductory neuromodulator and dermal filler course. This was in 2018 and the rest, as they say, is history! Since that time, we have been on an educational journey traveling to several destinations in Canada and the US.
Why Did You Choose The Confidence Lab's Training Program?
We first saw Rana speak a few years ago in Toronto and loved her general vibe and overall philosophy in aesthetics. She was a refreshing contrast among a panel of other providers who we simply could not see ourselves wanting to emulate. After seeing Rana at this conference, we knew we wanted to check out her clinic at The Confidence Lab and loved even more that it was located in Chicago! A direct flight from Winnipeg, no less!
What Is Your Favorite Aspect of Working in the Field of Aesthetics?
We all work with a similar general philosophy: Being safe and ethical in our treatment practices. We believe that building trusting
What Are You Doing Now?
Our group works together in a collective practice under the name Maison 627. It is unique in that we all own our own independent practices, but we collaborate to be able to offer our patients the highest level of skill and knowledge.
What does collaboration look like in your practice? How do you support each other's growth?
We are often calling each other into a patient treatment room for a spur of the moment consultation. Though our practices are independent, we still work together as a team to ensure that patients receive the very best care and advice. We also travel to conferences and trainings together - sharing both hotel rooms and educational experiences!
What Advice Would You Give to Those Considering a Career in This Field?
Start with a solid, basic foundations course. Then find a mentor in the industry who you can call on to troubleshoot patient situations or career decisions. Starting a group practice where there are senior injectors available as resources will set you up for success. Starting out as a new solo injector is tough!
