Welcome to "Where Are They Now?", a series that follows the journey of individuals who have attended one of our courses and how they have applied the skills and knowledge gained with us in their professional and personal lives. We believe that learning is a lifelong journey. We take pride in knowing that our program has positively impacted the lives of our attendees.

Jessie Severance, BSN, RN, just completed the Virtual Preceptorship Program at The Confidence Lab.

What were your professional backgrounds before aesthetics?

I have been in aesthetics for 2 years. Prior to that, I was a NICU Transport Nurse for 6 years and an OB Nurse for 15 years! While I loved all of the years I spent doing that, my heart changed and lead me in a different direction.

What Inspired You to Pursue a Career in Aesthetics?

I have always had an interest in aesthetics and loved the beauty in all things. I have a weird obsession with symmetry and trying to align everything and anything to make it more aesthetically pleasing. I always paid attention to injectables and treatments, but I never thought that I would be lucky enough to be able to do it. When things in my life started aligning, I decided to finally take a chance on myself and go for it!

Why Did You Choose The Confidence Lab's Preceptorship Program?

XI chose The Confidence Lab's Preceptorship Program because I was inspired by Rana's knowledge, expertise, and focus on safety being a priority. I also loved her personality! I have been closely following her and the entire team as resources in my career. Huge fangirl over here! But really I just felt like Rana's values inspired me.

What Is Your Favorite Aspect of Working in the Field of Aesthetics?

My favorite aspect of working in the field of aesthetics is the joy of making people happy and feeling good. The desire to help in a situation where someone is wanting to make a change and willingly asking for help warms my heart.

What Are You Doing Now?

I currently own and run my own medspa, Luxx Beauty & Wellness. I am located in Kimberly, WI. My goal is to continue growing my practice and helping people look and feel their best.

What Pearl did you learn in The Preceptorship Program that has shaped your practice?

The biggest pearl that I will take away from the Preceptorship Program is the process of a proper consultation and assessment. Previously, I had never asked what my patients long term goals were or so thoroughly discussed what they were wanting to achieve. While I did complete consultations, I felt that I focused more on the today and the right now, instead of looking ahead and planning together. I now take more time to really figure out the treatment goals overall and plan for the best and safest actions.
