Welcome to "Where Are They Now?", a series that follows the journey of individuals who have attended one of our courses and how they have applied the skills and knowledge gained with us in their professional and personal lives. We believe that learning is a lifelong journey. We take pride in knowing that our program has positively impacted the lives of our attendees.

Monique Zwelling

Monique Zwelling completed the Virtual Aesthetics Program with The Confidence Lab.

What were your professional backgrounds before aesthetics?

Before entering into Aesthetics, I was a Pediatric Cardiac ICU nurse and Pediatric Pre-op/PACU Nurse. I've been a nurse for over 10 years and have always had a passion for helping others. I've known since I was little that I was meant to help others in whatever I chose to do so that naturally led me to becoming a nurse.

What Inspired You to Pursue a Career in Aesthetics?

From a very young age my mother and grandmother told me to care for my skin and would show me what my skin could look like if I didn't. So I always had this underlying passion for all things skin and aging. And I wanted to age the best way possible. I never heard of aesthetics or knew I could do this until I became a travel nurse and met someone who was working to become an injector. Then a lightbulb went off and I realized I could combine my creativeness, passion for skincare, and my background in healthcare to help others feel beautiful. That is what truly lit a passion in me. I have never done as much continuing education, training, or felt this much gratitude in the work I provide as I have in aesthetics.

Why Did You Choose The Confidence Lab's Preceptorship Program?

There are SO many training programs/certifications to become an aesthetic injector but the quality of the education is what truly mattered to me. I started off by networking with many injectors and they all guided me to not just take a one day course. So, I shadowed and trained with others but I was still only getting pieces of training. There has not been another training that has been as thorough as The Confidence Lab's Preceptorship Program. The whole team made sure they were guiding injectors from the very basics like ethics in aesthetics to assessing, mapping, neuromodulators, fillers, and multiple techniques. You just can't get that in one day or weekend courses. I also really loved that each educator understood that there are multiple ways to achieve a result, as long as the patient is safe, then that is okay. The less is more approach really resonated with me and seeing a patient's fear calm after seeing natural results is truly inspiring.

What Is Your Favorite Aspect of Working in the Field of Aesthetics?

Honestly, the connection with my patients and community of like minded providers. There is truly something so fulfilling caring for your patients and going on their journey with them. You get to know them, their families, and are with them through some of their hardest times. I will never take for granted the relationships I have built with my patients and fellow providers.

What Are You Doing Now?

Currently,  I am a nurse injector in Phoenix, Arizona! I have been injecting part-time for 2 years and I am hoping to go full time by 2027! I love connecting with other providers and you can find me on instagram @Moe_injector_bbunbeauty.

What Pearl did you learn in The Preceptorship Program that has shaped your practice?

This is the hardest question of all because there are so many pearls within the Preceptorship Program. However, if I had to pick one it was Rana saying "You control what happens in your treatment room" and providing unreasonably hospitality as best as I can. Practicing with gratitude, giving my new patients handwritten notes, and simply thanking them for trusting me has been one big change that I have made within my treatment room.
