Pearls from Conference Season

November has been a whirlwind of conferences for our team. We attended Med Spa Pro Conference in Boca Raton, and Needle Arts Conference in Philadelphia. As always, our team is the first to sit in the front row every morning, and also the first to get the dancing started after hours. We are so proud of how they represent The Confidence Bar and the lessons we all bring back to share.

Here are some of the highlights of what we've learned over the last few weeks.

From the Business Track:

Here is the "cheat sheet" for a happy workplace:

  1. Your Team/ culture

  2. Work/Life Balance

  3. Salary and Benefits

You need at least 2 of these.

From Rana's Presentation:

Treat your returning patients with all the care and effort you give your new patients. It may be tempting to tell them to "make themselves at home" and "help themselves", but when we put in that extra effort to pamper them, it makes all the difference.

From the Laser Sessions:

The target of many lasers, like our MOXI, is water. For patients to see the best results, they need to be hydrated! If they are already using medical-grade skincare, their skin will be receptive to the treatment. However, to ensure the best results they should book a hydrafacial in the week prior to their laser treatment. This will ensure their tissues are hydrated and give the laser plenty to target.

From the Professional Sessions:

Imposter syndrome is a thief of joy and a thief of personal progress. The only way to break out of it is confidence. Confidence is a muscle that gets stronger every time you use it. By flexing your confidence, even in moments where you're nervous, you'll get stronger at the habit and it will get easier.

From the Neuromodulator Sessions:

We took so many notes. Starting with a fun fact: bruising can cause a wider diffusion of neuromodulator. On the opposite hand, if you have your patient contract the muscle you're injecting, you can lessen the spread of the neuromodulator. We appreciated the reminder that you get the most effective tox treatment when you inject at the neuromuscular origin. When treating the procerus, for example, instead of simply injecting between the brows, identify the midpoint between the medial canthus.

From the Patient Experience Sessions:

Across multiple sessions, the repeated message we heard is to truly see and know our patients as individuals. One session recommended using The Mackay 66, which uses 66 questions to truly get to know your patients. Armed with that intimate knowledge, you can select gifts that are more than just flowers and chocolates. Patients are self-involved - they care about what you offer because of how it benefits them.

From the Marketing Sessions:

Knowing the psychology behind what motivates our patients' choices is so important. Our brains are wired to be visual and our presentation - both online and in person - needs to make it easy for them to say "yes" to our practice. One presenter said that "a confused mind says no", so our job is to ensure that our patients are not confused.

Whew! That's a lot! And there was oh so much more that we brought home from all of these conference sessions. The joy we take from learning is hard to understate. We love the validation for things we are doing well, and even more so love the new ideas we gain. The world of aesthetic medicine is always expanding and changing, and we are so ready to continue learning.
