Kristin Dobry, NP, joined The Confidence Lab as a Laser Safety Officer. Her knowledge and passion for teaching onboarded our whole team of practitioners into providing MOXI and BBL treatments. After training up our team, she's achieved a new level of accomplishment. Kristin was selected to join the Sciton Luminary Team. This team is responsible for training practitioners around the country on best practices, safety standards, and treatment planning.
We recently sat down with Kristin to learn more about her journey to becoming a Sciton Luminary.

How did you become interested in laser treatments?
I started in aesthetics working with many different devices and platforms. I quickly saw how transformative laser treatments could be. I have struggled with acne myself, so I know firsthand that when your skin doesn't feel good, you don't always feel like yourself. I truly believe skin is the foundation of everything we do in aesthetics and taking care of it can completely change someone's confidence.
How did that interest progress from giving treatments to becoming a Laser Safety Officer and now a Sciton Luminary Trainer?
It felt like a natural progression. Lasers have always been my bread and butter, but I also love teaching. It fills my cup. Becoming a Laser Safety Officer allowed me to combine safety, education, and clinical results. Now, being a Sciton trainer feels like the perfect balance of both things I love: lasers and helping other providers grow their skills.
What is your favorite aspect of teaching?
My favorite part is seeing the "aha" moment when everything finally clicks. It is so rewarding to watch someone I trained build their confidence, understand the why behind what they are doing, and start producing results that are beautiful, safe, and consistent.
What is your favorite aspect of the Sciton platform?
I love the anti-aging effects and the confidence that comes from healthier skin. Sciton treatments can improve tone, texture, pigment, redness, and overall skin quality in a way that feels very natural. One of the most interesting areas of recent research examines whether non-ablative fractional laser treatments (like MOXI) may help reduce future non-melanoma skin cancer risk in certain high-risk populations. Which is exactly the kind of light reading I love for my lunchbreak!

Why is certified training necessary? Can't practitioners just "figure it out as the go"?
Absolutely not. Lasers are one of the post powerful and potentially dangerous tools in an aesthetic practice. In the wrong hands, they can cause burns, scarring, pigmentary changes, eye injury, and lifelong complications. This is not something that providers should figure out as they go. Proper training protects the patients, the provider, and the practice.
How can individuals or other spas contact you to arrange Sciton Luminary training?
The best way to contact me is through social media at @confidencebykristin. You can also visit The Confidence Lab website to request a one-on-one training and ask for me directly. I would love to help you build your confidence with laser treatments and patient safety.
