Learning From Our Preceptees

The Preceptorship Program is definitely not a one-way street. While our preceptees have joined the program for our expert educators and clear instruction, they are not the only ones learning! Our educators have spent hundreds of hours working with our preceptees. Here are some of the things we've learned and loved about them.

As we reach the end of Cohort 2, we've had almost a full year of bringing in preceptees to shadow our practitioners. That is over 200 shadow days! Can you believe it? Here, our practitioners share what they've noticed about shadow days and how the preceptees have added to their joy.

Lisa Rivero, NP

Their confidence! Their first couple of shadow days are nervous and unsure. But by the third day, they jump right in, asking great questions, and taking initiative. This is exactly what we want! We want them to feel comfortable and ready to take patients

Grace Rivera, NP

Their unique personalities! How they all bring their own strengths, background, and way of learning. It makes it really interesting for me to get to learn from them too.

Angie Repel, RN

The growth that happens over a few months. And how valuable it is for them to learn in a setting with multiple practitioners and see all our day-to-day operations. This gives them such a well rounded experience.

Lauren Gardstrom, NP

Their eagerness! They always come prepared to jump in and help with welcoming our patients and observing our procedures throughout the day.

Lamija Hubjer, PA

It is the most rewarding part of my work week. Their experience goes so far beyond passive observation. They are not an invisible shadow, but an active part of the team fully immersed in our daily operations. Getting to witness not only procedures and clinical decision making, but also patient communication, workflow, team collaboration, and the intentional culture we strive to create every day.

Cristina Herman, NP

One of my favorite parts is watching the growth. Many come in feeling nervous or reserved, but over time they become more confident and comfortable.

Rana Kennelly, NP

I've noticed the different kinds of preceptees we have. We have some that are new to aesthetics, but also experienced practitioners and some business owners who are in the program for guidance on how to do things in their own businesses.
